On November 8, the 55th China Higher Education Expo (HEEC), sponsored by the Chinese Association of Higher Education and jointly supported by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education and the Changsha Municipal People's Government, opened in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province. Mr. Yi Bing, president of HIE, was invited to attend the opening ceremony. After the opening ceremony, President Yi Bing, Vice President Luo Yiping, principals from the Academic Programs Division, Office for New Engineering Disciplines Construction, Asset Management Division and College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship as well as teachers from relevant schools participated in such activities as “Exhibition”, “High-end Forum”, "Achievements Release" and "Contest". HIE has won the "Outstanding Organization Award".
HEEC is an essential bridge for collaborative innovation and co-development among the government, universities and enterprises. Themed on "Serving the New Development Pattern and Embarking on a New Journey of Higher Education", the Expo this year pursues high-level and high-quality and aims at providing a platform for discussing major concerns of the reform and development of higher education, including exploring new models of education and teaching reform, fully carrying out the fundamental task of moral education, and promoting the modernization of higher education.
The Expo covers four major sections including "Exhibition", "High-end Forum", "Achievements Release" and "Contest". Nearly 1,000 leading companies in higher education industry participated the exhibition, and more than 3,000 booths displayed tens of thousands of products. A total of more than 40 conferences, forums and activities were held, and over 100 academicians, presidents, and entrepreneurs gave more than 200 reports. There were more than 60,000 professional visitors, including more than 10,000 higher education industry agents and distributors, and more than 10,000 professional visitors from colleges and universities across the country. The coverage rate of universities reached 51%.
HIE, as one of the organizing units, attached great importance to the tasks assigned by the organizer, accurately grasped the spirit and requirements of the meeting and coordinated all parties concerned with delicate deployment and dedicated organization. The 12 college student volunteers selected and sent by the College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Campus Security Division did an excellent job in the five-day volunteer work. They demonstrated high motivation and pragmatic demeanor of HIE students and were highly praised by the organizers of the Expo. At the award ceremony on November 8, Mr. Zhang Yudong, Director of HIE Asset Management Division, received the "Outstanding Organization Award" medal on behalf of the school.
