Recently, the CAST released the list of the selected candidates of the 8th "Young Talents Sponsorship Project". A total of 729 young scientific and technological talents from universities and scientific research institutions across the country were selected (those in special scientific and technological fields not included). Dr. Guan Hanqing from the School of Mechanical Engineering of our school was selected, which is the first time that our school has won this honor.
The "Young Talent Sponsorship Project" is a national young talent program implemented by CAST in 2015, which aims to help young scientific and technological talents make outstanding achievements in their prime and thus prepare leading talents pool for major national scientific and technological fields. This talent support program mainly targets at scientific and technical personnel under 32 years old with unparalleled creativity and huge untapped potential, which sponsors each selected candidate for three consecutive years.
In recent years, the school has attached great importance to the training of young scientific and technological workers, focusing on improving young teachers' scientific research ability and optimizing the cultivation and management mode of scientific research talents. Enormous efforts are invested in improving young teachers' scientific and technological innovation ability and academic competence, aiming to make it possible for young teachers to grow into high-level talents and stand out among their peers.
Guan Hanqing born in August 1991 in Xiangtan, Hunan Province. He is a doctor degree earner of engineering, lecturer and tutor for postgraduate. He is also a postdoctoral fellow of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, member of China Invention Association. He is mainly engaged in the teaching and scientific research of mechanical engineering specialty, and is committed to the research on the theory and application technology of active/intelligent rotor-gas bearing system. He presided over 5 scientific research projects sponsored by Youth Fund of National Natural Science Foundation of China and Youth Fund of Hunan Natural Science Foundation, and was technically responsible for 3 scientific research projects such as General Project of National Natural Science Foundation and National Key R&D Sub-project. He has published 16 papers (7 Top journals) in authoritative journals at home and abroad, such as Mechanical System and Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, Journal of Sound and Vibration, etc. He earned 11 national invention patents, and won the Silver Award of International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva in 2022 (Rank 3 among the total 6). He served as a reviewer of international authoritative journals Nonlinear Dynamics and SAGE Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology. He participated in the formulation of national standards for gas bearings, filling the gaps in relevant domestic technical standards. The research results have been applied to product upgrading and new product development in enterprises such as Xinao Group Co., Ltd., CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Gree Electric Appliance Co., Ltd. and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., breaking the international technical blockade and promoting the industrial application of air bearing technology.
