Dr. Wang Chao’s Academic Paper Published in Structural Change and Economic Dynamics
Dr. Wang Chao, an associate professor and young core faculty member at our School of Management, recently collaborated with Professor Zhang Yuejun from the School of Business Administration of Hunan University to advance research in environmental governance and investment. Their research findings have been published in the prestigious international journal Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, with Dr. Wang as the lead author and our school as the first institution.
Dr. Wang’s research focuses on Chinese corporate environmental investments under the national strategy of dual carbon goals. He explores how regulatory environmental expenditures can pressure companies’ productive investments in the short term, increasing production costs and potentially reducing productivity. Understanding whether environmental investments by publicly listed companies can simultaneously achieve economic development and environmental protection, and their impact on productivity, requires thorough investigation. This research provides critical insights for promoting cross-regional environmental cooperation and resource sharing, guiding listed companies in heavily polluting industries towards upgrading and transforming their operations.
In recent years, Dr. Wang has dedicated his efforts to supporting China’s dual carbon targets through technological innovation. His research includes studies on energy transition and evaluations of environmental policies, leading projects funded by the Hunan Provincial Natural Science Foundation and the Provincial Social Science Federation. Dr. Wang has published 26 papers as the first author or corresponding author.
