Recently, in accordance with the "Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on Announcement of the List of National and Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Professional Construction Sites in 2020" ([2021] No. 7), our school’s mechanical design and manufacturing and its automation and electrical engineering and automation were approved as "National First-Class Undergraduate Majors in 2020", and 13 majors including light chemical engineering were approved as "Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Majors in 2020".

A total of 15 majors of our school were selected as national and provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors, which is a full affirmation of the effectiveness of our school's professional construction and talent training. Since the Ministry of Education and Hunan Province launched the "Double Ten Thousand Plan" for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors in 2019, our school has been approved for 2 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 22 provincial-level first-rate undergraduate major construction sites, covering engineering, management, liberal arts, sciences, economics and arts. Among them, mechanical design and manufacturing and its automation and electrical engineering and its automation have passed the engineering education professional certification at the same time.

The construction of first-class undergraduate majors is an important measure taken by the Ministry of Education to implement the spirit of the National Undergraduate Education Work Conference in the New Era. Comprehensive revitalization of undergraduate education, improvement of talent training capabilities of universities, and realization of connotative development of higher education are the core indicators for the construction of "Double First-Class" in universities. Our school will take the opportunity of the approved national and provincial first-class undergraduate majors as an opportunity to earnestly implement the "Double Ten Thousand Plan", make precise efforts, further deepen reforms, and give full play to the exemplary and leading role of first-class undergraduate majors. With the demands of new technologies, new industries, and new business formats, we will further promote the construction of the “Four New”, adjust and optimize the discipline structure, and comprehensively enhance the overall competitiveness of the school.
